About Varlands

Varlands office of collaborative architecture formed in 2018 as a collaborative team working with clients, designers, branding firms, interior firms and the like to realize high design.

Our practice is compiled of in-depth research to form an exciting user experience based on a personal approach. We love getting to know our clients and put their passion into the built form whatever it may be.

Our range of backgrounds in restaurant, retail, office, hospitality and various scales of residential projects are always inspiring us to create something truly unique.

We offer design and architecture services for new and existing buildings, site planning, custom cabinetry, furniture, and light fixtures, branding and product development.

We strive to turn the super creative into the super beautiful.

Our Team

Michael and Jaclyn Varland

Ever since Michael was little, he was constantly dismantling everything just to see how to put it back together, and better. This knack for how things are built has been a fascinating tool for the never ending architectural and design world he surrounds himself with.

Jaclyn loves human life, the natural world, and the built environment we live in and has done everything she can to harness her talents and become a life long student of human interaction, nature, and how these affect design and architecture.

Together Michael and Jaclyn's love for design and social experiences is harnessed with every new relationship by continuing to push the envelope for how we live. If we are not late night sketching or drafting up the next big idea from our dreams, you can find us tackling another construction project in the restoration of our century old home in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

Elizabeth Wiecek

A talented designer, artist, and graduate of University of Cincinnati, DAAP, Elizabeth is a cornerstone of our creative design team.

Nathan Karlsen

While rigorously working towards his Master of Architecture degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology, Nathan's interest in societal and cultural aspects of architecture brings a detailed framework of design to the table.
